Strawberry Festival

The Strawberry Festival is the country life and good food family weekend in the Garden Route. It is one of the largest family festivals in the region and is set in the magnificent countryside at Redberry Farm. There is a full weekend of fun and activities, which centre around and showcase the icon of the festival – delicious, charming, fabulous strawberries!

The lifestyle programme offers things to do for adults and children. Items include live music, a selection of good food and strawberries, country market, kids activities, wine and craft beer pairings, the beer tent, popular sports, an outside broadcast by Algoa FM and free entertainment such as dance and kids shows.

Strawberries are centre stage inside the Strawberry Emporium where visitors can enjoy strawberry treats and drinks from the Berry Bar. Strawberry experiences include picking your own strawberries in the fields, discovering the secrets of a strawberry inside the hedge maze, entering the strawberry eating competition and attending a wine or craft beer and berry pairing.

This family festival is kitted out with the kids in mind. The large outdoor kids park on the lawns will keep the children entertained and energised for hours. The park has a fun range of inflatables as well as target shooting and a soft play area for 0 – 3 year olds. Other children’s activities include bumper and paddle boats on the dam, bubble ball, pony rides, pedal go carts, miniature train rides and a wooden playground. The fun does not end at the activities – make sure to enter your kids into the free strawberry and ice cream competitions!

Sports events include trail running and CrossFit. The Redberry Farm 5km family fun run-walk and 9km trail run routes through the strawberry fields with views of the farm landscape, mountain and dams. CrossFit George is the host of the Fittest in the Garden Route competition happening for inter-box challenges.

The Strawberry Festival is scheduled over the September school holidays so make sure to add it to your holiday bucket list.
