De Kombuys is an eco orientated farm lodge conveniently situated only 3km from the world renowned Cango Caves. Whether you are looking for peace and tranquility in our beautiful natural surroundings, or want to experience the culture of a working organic farm, we have the accommodation option to suit your needs. Nestled in a picturesque valley in the Cango Valley, De Kombuys offers you the opportunity to take in the rustic atmosphere of farm life while enjoying the comforts and luxuries of home. Our variety of sleeping options cater for couples, singles and families.
The Vineyard Cottages, which have been luxuriously restored to preserve their old-world charm, date from the 1800s. Both (Die Bakhuis & Die Ou Skooltjie) are situated next to our organically grown vineyard and offer magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
Die Bakhuis offers one double bedroom (en suite) and a comfortable, open plan living area fitted with a kitchenette, dining and sitting area. The living area has a ¾ day bed that can be converted into an additional sleeping option, if required.
Die Ou Skooltjie offers a double bedroom (en suite). The living area of this cottage contains a kitchenette, a dining table and a corner sofa (high-density foam) that can also be converted into an additional sleeping option, if needed.
Double doors leads out to the cottage’s patio by the Shiraz Vineyards. Each cottages has it’s own braai (barbeque) and Indonesian teak outdoor furniture.
We provide quality white bedding and towels, as well as coffee and tea facilities, and select toiletries. Daily housekeeping, private dining & turndown service can be provided (unless privacy is requested).
During the cold Klein Karoo winter months we proved fluffy duvets, hot chocolate, electric hot water bottles and lovely, authentic wood ovens for heating. In summer, our unique eco pool offers respite from the heat. This pool’s wonderful design allows for water plants in furrows to filter the pool water.
